I was lucky enough to be invited to the opening of the Whipstitch Lounge at the Beehive Co-op last week and I cannot hide my excitement at discovering such a wonderful store and sewing mecca. The Beehive is located right off Peachtree down from the Fox and not far from the Margaret Mitchell House. Even before you enter the shop you get a sense of color and patterns that encourages you to pick up the pace and get inside.
The interior of the shop is divided into sections for each designer. Every designer features a different craft or set of goods. Among my favorite was the Felted Heart which features re-purposed wool garments for kids and adults, iram-inal designs had stunning pearl necklaces in awesome colors, and Kaboodle Designs whose soldered intial pendants are the bees knees! I highly recommend that everyone (even you non-crafty types) check out all the designers. Even if you are not creatively inclined, the Beehive Co-op gives you the opportunity to give handmade, one of a kind gifts to your loved ones.
The Whipstitch Lounge is the latest edition to the Beehive Co-op. Located in the back of the store, the Whipstitch Lounge is the fabric and pattern heart of the Beehive and the sewing class room. Featuring the latest and most popular designer fabrics and trendy, hard to find fabulous sewing patterns, the Whipstitch lounge is a seamstresses dream come true. You can also choose to take classes around the huge central table. The lounge is just as colorful, if not more so than the rest of the shop given that it houses so many glorious fabrics. You can choose from yardage, fat quarters and jelly rolls. Everything to make your sewing dreams come true.
I have plenty of trips planned to go back to the Beehive Lounge, it is my new indulgance. I have told all my friends and neighbors. I hope to see you there, I will be the girl under the pile of fabric and crafty goodness.
